A principle, not a program.
Impact Locals exists to prove one idea, everywhere: the people closest to a problem are closest to its solution.
It started with Nepal
The idea began with Impact Nepal: local teams running schools support, clean-ups, enterprises, and research — backed by diaspora and funders abroad.
It worked. And the reason it worked had nothing to do with Nepal specifically. Locals knew first, locals stayed, and locals owned every decision.
That principle proved bigger than one country. So we built Impact Locals — a movement any community can adopt, one chapter at a time.
Why we exist
Mission & vision
Mission
Impact Locals empowers communities to lead their own development — connecting local action with global knowledge, networks, and funding, aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Vision
A world where every community has the power, resources, and connections to solve its own challenges — locally led, globally supported.
Objectives
Seven things we hold ourselves to
Chapters on 3 continents by 2030
Each locally registered and locally led.
≥80% of spending stays local
Through local staff, suppliers, and organizations — in every chapter.
Every program SDG-mapped
Publicly reported against specific goals and targets.
1,000+ local volunteers per chapter
Plus 100+ diaspora contributors, by year five.
Community-owned platforms
E-learning, forums, and data platforms that outlast external funding.
Annual open impact reports
Per chapter — funding in, results out.
A global knowledge network
Chapters share what works, Teach For All-style.
Why we're different
Five differences that matter
Locally led, not locally delivered
Communities set the agenda and run the work — outsiders support, never steer.
A principle, not a program
Any community can adopt the model. Chapters are independent, not branch offices.
Direct to the ground
Support goes straight to local teams — no long intermediary chains eating the funding.
Built to stay
We build local institutions, platforms, and skills that outlast any single project.
SDG-mapped by design
Every program links to a specific SDG, so impact is legible to funders and governments from day one.
Where we're going
